Logipad
EFB devices

No matter what kind of device you use, whether mobile or mounted, either Windows-based or Apple iPad – Logipad works with all of them. It is even possible to use different types of devices within one IT infrastructure of an airline.

The
supported platforms are:

  • laptops (Windows-based)
  • tablets (Windows-based tablets and iPad)
  • mounted devices (class
    II, Windows-based)

Each device has its
own features as shown below.

Apple
iPad

All Logipad information approved via ground infrastructure is consolidated into one dedicated Logipad app on the iPad.

The home screen of the app contains a corporate news ticker to display recent information to the pilot. By pushing the synchronization button, the content of all activated modules is downloaded or synchronized based on the device registration and role‐based configuration.

The app design can be adapted to meet the customer’s corporate design guidelines. It supports switching between colour themes and allows day and night mode usage by default control.

The Logipad app functions and modules on iPad:
  • news ticker
  • push messaging
  • single sync button / process
  • ebriefing
  • document library and reader
  • eforms
  • confirmation
  • in-app store
  • download area
  • web browser
  • mobile device management (MDM) funcionality:
remote wipe, pass code reset, restriction settings, pass code policies, WiFi, VPN and email pre-configurations

Windows-based
mobile devices

The Logipad platform supports most Windows‐based devices and applications on Windows 7 as well as Windows 8.x. Logipad is optimized for tablet or laptop use.
The hardware platform needs to be Intel-based; Logipad will therefore not run on devices based on Windows ARM.

To increase the reliability of Class 1 devices, the environment is optimized and secured for EFB operations.

The Windows-based app functions and modules:

  • news ticker
  • single sync

  • ebriefing
  • document library and reader

  • eforms
  • confirmation
  • integration of third-party applications including deployment and automatic revision updates
  • provision of web briefing or other web‐based solutions
  • full integration into company communication/eMail (application or Webmail needed)
  • document browser optimized for laptop and tablet usage containing full text search (FTS), confirmation and read functionalities

Mounted
Class-II devices

As Class 2 devices are dedicated to cockpits, only aircraft-related content is allowed by regulation.

On the other hand, these devices are capable of supporting in‐flight operations as a paperless solution. The Logipad synchronization process allows the integration of Class 2 devices, even if Class 1 devices are in use. Supported connections are 3G, LTE/4G, WiFi/LAN and USB.

The Logipad Class 2 environment is optimized for cockpit use. Due to the role‐based system, it can even support large, mixed fleets. Compliance reports documenting all aircrafts data revisions can be generated no matter which update channel is used.

The Windows-based app functions and modules:
  • news ticker
  • single sync
  • ebriefing
  • document library and reader
  • eforms
  • confirmation
  • user interface and document browser optimized for class‐II usage

containing fulltext search, confirmation and read functionalities
  • integration of third-party type a and b applications including deployment and revision updates
  • data, documents, and applications automatically updated via 3G, 4G, Wifi or USB
  • ARINC 429 communication support to receive information from the cockpit bus
